November 4th...a blog
this is going to be quite the mish mash today....

first off:  Election Night last night.  If the Republican party thinks this means that everything is ok now...they are as stupid as I think they are.  This was NOT an election to say, Republicans are back.  It was saying, that we don't like BIG gov't.  In any form.
The Republicans are about big gov't too.  This was about conservative views...conservative economic views.  Fake Republicans, RINOs, and "moderate" liberals: BEWARE.  We are mad at all of you.

secondly: I remember clearly the day the Iranians overran and overthrew our Embassy 30 years ago today.  It is scary.  It was all people talked about for months.  It seemed surreal.  And the President at the time acted as if talking nice and sweet would change things...   Amazing how the more things change the more they stay the same.

Personally: Today was my grandmother's birthday.  I miss her alot.  We lived with her till I was in my teens (except when they went to Florida).  She was English in most ways.  She was very prim and proper having come over from London when she was 11.  Very strict.  All of her grandchildren called her "Sarge".  She had all kinds of rules...
You must eat sitting up straight
You must not drink until all your food is done.  No matter how thirsty you are.
Pronouce ask as "osk" and not "aaaask".  Same thing with Aunt.  It's "ont" not "ant".  Failure to do so results in a slap on the face.
Talking back would result in a different punishment.  My sister once had hot water poured over her head.
Food that was out, was for company.  And only company.
No hugs or kissing dogs in her presence.

But then again there was the funny way she laughed.  We had Tea every night at 11 PM.  With some kind of dry cookie.
When they moved to Florida, we loved staying with them, even though she was a nudge.  She loved watching Arsenio.  Woo, Woo.  She was in love with Robert Stack and Randy Travis.
She plucked her eyebrows so thin, that eventually she had to paint them on everyday.
And she had her blonde wig sitting on the headpiece.  Yet, she had a steady appointment at the "Beauty Palor" each week.   My young boy brain couldn't understand why she would need to have her hair done, if she just put a wig over it!

I used to tell her that she looked like Donna Mills...and called her Grilled Mills since she grilled us all the time.

When she got Alzheimers, she was a completely different person.  Subdued.  Sweet.  Scared.  That's how her great-grandchildren knew her.  The Feist was gone, even if the fight wasn't.

Music was the one way to communicate with her.  She may not have remembered people's names, but she always remembered tunes.  She'd sing songs, or hum a melody.  If you said the words in a wacky way, she'd laugh...though who knows if she laughed because she got the joke.

miss you grandma.  you would have enjoyed yelling at my kids.
And I wish you could.
